Trusting God in the Wilderness: Seeing and Believing
Rev. Hardy H. Kim

“Jews and Christians are people who await the earthly arrival of the full, good governance of YHWH. This chapter places the reading, believing community always again at the threshold of the coming kingdom. The believing community, like Moses, is not there, not admitted, but at the threshold, waiting. The same rhetoric is used in the inaugural utterance of Jesus, ‘The kingdom of God has come near’ (Mark 1:15)—not here, but near, as near as can be seen and hoped for.”
