Sermon: Home is Where Our Hope Is
Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16, John 14:1-14
Rev. Dr. Jim Bennett
The celebrations of Easter have faded into our rear view mirror. Once again we find ourselves mired in the challenges of hanging onto the hope of Easter as the realities of our lives intervene. Sometimes joyous, other times sorrowful, and very often simply the routines of our lives that seem more mundane than spiritual. Jesus knew that his absence would be difficult on those whose lives had been transformed by his presence, and so as he prepared for his departure he left his disciples with assurances of his provision for them—promises that hold true for us as well as we live in the almost, but not yet, of being with Christ again.
