Like a stream of water soaking into the hard soil of the desert and creating blooms where there was only barrenness so the Holy Spirit seeks to soften our hearts and enliven our souls. The trouble with our Christianity is not a lack of understanding or even a failure of effort; the challenge confronting the church is our meager experience of the living God present in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost is not just the birthday of the church; it's the heartbeat of our hope.
