Sermon: Give It a Rest!
Mark 2:23-28, Genesis 1:31-2:3

Where is the quiet place; the calm renewing center from which life can be reordered and renewed? When is the time to step back from the frantic and frenetic, from the fast and furious, from the endless pursuit of just a little bit more? How can life stop being a burden and begin to be abundant? God’s answer is Sabbath. Sabbath is that place and time when we remember that we are merely the creature in deep and desperate need of the Creator’s love, when we remember that we are called to something more than simply rigor and routine. The loss of shalom (peace) in our world is directly related to our loss of Sabbath.
