Sermon: Out of the Settled Place
Genesis 21:23–22:1-14
Rev. Dr. Steve Harrington
In a culture like ours which encourages us to think that our personal comfort, fulfillment, and happiness are the end goals and point of life, biblical faith and Christian discipleship can seem a strange thing. Faith is not the way that we grab on to more in life. Faith is not the way that we secure and preserve what we most want. Faith is what enables us to let go and trust God. As people of faith we are called to live in the tension between our tendency to settle down and let our possessions become obsessions, and the call to see God and hold all of life lightly. May our faith find courage and conviction in this hour.
