What we need is something new. The old residue of our sin, the too familiar dysfunctions of our relationships, the parched dryness of our souls – they cling like stale dust that chokes the breath away. What we need is something new. In the Advent season we celebrate God’s “new thing” that begins slowly and builds from there: like a crocus blooming in the desert, like a feeble knee being made strong – like arid faith being renewed. What we celebrate in this season is the promise that God brings to us what we most need.
