String Quartet Concert on Sunday, August 15 at 7:30 p.m.
The Amphion String Quartet will present a concert at Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church on Sunday, August 15 at 7:30 p.m. The members of the Amphion String Quartet are Katie Hyun, violin; Mihai Marica, cello; David Southorn, violin; and violist Wei-Yang Andy Lin.
After playing chamber music together in different configurations and different venues over the years, the four musicians of the Amphion Quartet joined together for a performance at Morse Recital Hall at the Yale School of Music in February, 2009. Encouraged by their reception at this venue, the four continued to develop their dynamic as a performing quartet. Despite their short time playing together, the Amphion String Quartet was awarded the First Prize in the piano and strings category as well as the Audience Choice Award at the 2010 Plowman Competition. More recently the Amphion String Quartet shared first place in the 2010 Hugo Kauder Competition. The Amphion Quartet has been invited to spend the summer at Music @ Menlo’s International Program.
